About Me

Cinematographer. Filmmaker. Storyteller.

Formerly known as nFLUnce, the director “Spike Ree” didn’t always have a passion for film making. Early on in his teenage years Spike Ree competed in poetry and writing competitions across New York City, his hometown. The influences of modern graffiti art, Jamaican  dancehall, subway performers and the “rhythm of the streets” as he says, are what led to his transition from poetry to music. Spike always had a gift on imagining things and then applying his all to seeing these visions come to fruition…at times with very little resources.

As the only American born child to his immigrant parents being the youngest of six surely didn’t lessen the pressure load of building a better life for the young legend and his native Jamaican family. Early on people always referred to Spike as a jack of all trades and even then little did he know he’d go on to direct over 100 videos garnishing over 53+million views across several platforms.

For years Spike Ree pursued a career as a lyricist under the alias nFLUnce, a metaphor to his lyrics falling ill. In 2016 as a junior in college Flu began shooting his own content and thus was birthed his first attempts at music videos. 5 years later he partnered with K Camp, the iconic musician, who later gave him the stage name Spike Ree. It wasn’t long until he realized he could make a living doing these visuals so he started NFLUNCE VISUALZ which later became REEL THEORY his first LLC and production company, now DBA as NFLUNCE.

Youngest Hired Commerical Director

When I did my commercials for Georgia Power I became the youngest director the company had ever hired to direct commercials.
